Fieldtrip suggestions

-Pick a venue that you and your children will enjoy.
-You can post a field trip/a session over several weeks/a park day/book club.......you name it.
-Have a friend come (it can be a whole family) who can help watch your little people if you have money matters to deal with or need to direct other families.
-Pick a day and time that works best for you. Posting on the forum "what works best for everyone?" does not help.
-Try to have a price per person, not an hourly rate.  People often need to budget for their several children and need to know the exact amount up front.
-Collect money from your friends. I know many people who have been burned.
-Post if people are paying you or the venue.
-Have a fax or email from the venue you are working with confirming all of the information.
-Have a date on your post for when the money is due. Have this about 2 weeks before it is actually due.  This will give people enough time to pay you and if there are people on your waiting list who need to pay, it gives them time as well.
-If the event is free but you are still reserving seats (ie/ a concert) you may want to collect a fee to donate to a charity. This will ensure people don't back out and you aren't embarrassed later explaining to the venue why all the seats weren't used.
-Have a waiting list.
-Have people give your their full names, their children names, their phone number (computers have crashed before), their email address, the names and ages of their children and if babies are attending.
-Do not feel guilty organising something for older children only and posting that.
-Have an arrival time and a start time!!
-In your post for the event keep it simple.
-Post once a week until the numbers are full. Post when the numbers are full.
-You can post names and ages of children (NOT their last names) to give people an idea of who's going.  Sometimes some reluctant teens come out when they see other teens are joining).
-Do not post your home address.  Email this to the participants after you have the numbers you need to run your event.
-Give your phone number when posting.  Especially if you don't check your computer often.

Joining a Field Trip
-Trips can fill up over night.
-Pay on time.  Really.
-If you have changed your mind, please EMAIL or CALL to say so.  Often these trips are based on numbers.
-Give all the required information. The organiser can cut/paste and save on typing.
-Be on time.
-If you cannot make it, have paid and cannot get your money back, then ask if another family can have your spot.
-If the trip is posted 'full', politely email to be put on a waiting list.
-If you are having to convince your children to come, it might not be a good trip to join.
-If you had fun, tell the organiser.  If you didn't, be constructive.

If there are other helpful points I've forgotten, please add them and let me know!!!
I've had a great year and look forward to organising some more things next school year.
Thank-you so much to the other moms who organised some really fun activities that we have participated in. I appreciate your efforts!
