Charlotte Mason Group meetings in Bradford

Dear Friends,
Summer seems to be rushing away quickly so I am forced to think towards the fall. Below are the dates for this year’s Charlotte Mason Group meetings in Bradford. I hope that this year we will avoid so many conflicts with conferences and so on. J Please mark the dates on your calendar now so that they don’t get double booked. I know that I really enjoy the time that we meet as it is so encouraging and building… An essential “Professional Development” time.
September 22
October 27
December 1
January 12
February 16
March 22
May 3
June 7
As well, I will be ordering some copies of “Educating the Whole Hearted Child”. If you haven’t already, please let me know if you would like one. They are only $23.50 each!!! The new edition is at least 50% bigger and the price is $10 less than I got mine for many years ago! Definitely worth investing in.
I know that it is late and that you have probably ordered most of the books that you will need for the fall but if there are any other homeschooling books that you need, please feel free to check with me as I am starting to stock a few more titles and am aiming to start carrying lots of Charlotte Mason friendly titles…. I will likely put in the order for the Educating the Whole Hearted Child books on Tuesday or Wednesday so if you’d like to pick up any other titles (Apologia Science, Mystery of History, Story of the World, Learning Language Arts Through Literature, etc.) at that time, I can at least save you the tax on them as I am still same enough not to have to pass the taxes on.
Blessings,
Cori

Meeting Schedule for the Year and Mentoring Course

Hello Ladies. I am behind on organizing this and I apologize. We have a new location, thanks to a couple of ladies. Thank you Patricia Clapperton and Susan Berrezueta, who's church we can use.
Meetings will be at Newmarket Gospel Hall, 736 Davis Drive, Newmarket. 7PM. (I believe this is beside the Re-Store.)
The meetings will be scheduled as below. They WILL NOT be on the 4th Monday of the month, as I have things I had scheduling conflicts. They will be 5 or 6 weeks apart.
September 26 Louise House from the Learning House
November 7
December 12
January 23
February 27
April 2 or 16 Used Cirriculum Sale
May 28
I would love some suggestions, as usual, as to what people are looking for at the meetings.
I will also take the opportunity to mention the Home Education Mentoring program I would love to run if there is a need for it. It would be on a separate evening, if there is enough response.
This program is for any new home educating family interested in more personal mentoring from an experienced veteran – that’s “experienced” not “expert”.

This program may be for you IF:
- you are brand new this year with young children
- you are on the edge of a decision to home educate but want to know more about practical aspects
- you have been at this for a couple of years but still feel you require more of the basic information to go forward more comfortably
- you have older children recently removed from the public or private school system
- you are a veteran and would like to sit in on a session in order to become a mentor with Cornerstone

This is a detailed mentoring program developed by Vicky Bentley in Virginia based on her years of experience as a home educator and support group member and leader with a group of 300+ member families.

Because of the nature of this program, it will require a couple of commitments. It will require a time commitment of one night a week for approximately 8 weeks for 2 hours per night. It will also require a monetary commitment for the Parent Workbook of $37.

Topics to be covered are:
Beginning the Incredible Journey
Choosing Curriculum
Organizing Your Time
Home Education with Style
Getting Dinner on the Table (The Same Day You Homeschool)
Testing and Evaluation
Teaching Tips
Organizing Your Home
Lessons Learned

You will notice that these topics are not all strictly home educating how-tos but deal with the general flow of your household. I believe that choosing to home educate your children is not about making an education choice. It is truly a lifestyle choice. How you organize (or don't organize) your home and household tasks can and do directly affect your "school" time.
Enjoy what is left of your summer.
